Having started out as a self-taught guitarist, I can relate to these feelings! After 7 years of playing in bands and teaching myself, I went into formal education, finishing off with a Masters at the Royal Academy of Music. My teaching style brings the best of both worlds and draws on all my experience, bringing clarity and structure to lessons and practice.
Teaching Philosophy
The words Education stems from the word 'Educe', meaning to bring out something inside or latent. That is my goal as a teacher. Through having a conversation together, I tailor lessons to each students interests and ways of learning. I love seeing my students develop their own personal relationship with music and the guitar, building something that is uniquely theirs.
For beginner to intermediate students, I would typically teach through learning songs you love, which incorporates technique, theory, fretboard knowledge, chord vocabulary all at a pace that suits you with clear steps on how to improve. I also encourage creativity and exploration in my lessons and often create bitesize ways to write your own songs. But if songs isn't your thing, I also have you covered. For more advanced students, I have plenty of harmonic and rhythmic concepts, techniques and advanced theory depending on your needs.

About Tal
With 15+ years of teaching experience, Tal takes great pride and joy in his teaching work and students. He has guest lectured at Leeds Conservatoire and as well his own teaching method, has taught Rockschool Exams up to Grade 8 with distinction. With a unique background starting out as a self taught guitarist and going into formal education finishing with a Masters from the Royal Academy of Music, Tal has breadth of experience performing with acclaimed artists across the globe. With a background in Rock & Blues, Tal went on to study Jazz and has played everything in between, from Tanzanian-Electronica, Soul, Hip Hop, Folk and Alternative genres

Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Harringay in London and online via Zoom
Do I need my own guitar?
I would recommend having your own guitar so you can practice at home and get used to your own instrument, but I'm happy to provide a guitar for lessons if you're just starting out or if its difficult to bring one.
How often should I have lessons?
Most students opt in for weekly or every other week
Can adults start from scratch?
Absolutely! I'm incredibly patient and understanding of this and all you need is to be open and willing to learn.
What genres do you teach?
Rock, Blues, Folk, Jazz, Alternative, Soul, Singer-Songwriter - African genres: Moroccan, Sudanese, Cameroon
Do you teach groups?
I typically teach one to one as my teaching style focuses on the individual, particularly when starting out. I am open though if you feel this is something you are interested in and are looking to develop playing in a group.
How much are lessons?
I offer a sliding scale depending on financial background
Tier 1 (under £40k per year) - £45 per hour
Tier 2 (above £40k per year) - £60 per hour
I also offer a subscription model which gives you 4 lessons a month with a 15% discount.
How long are lessons?
Lessons are typically 1 hour long.
For advanced students wanting infrequent lessons, I would recommend 1.5 - 2 hours.
Whats your cancellation policy?
You can cancel/reschedule free of charge as long as its more than 24 hours before the lesson

Monday: 5pm-9pm
Tuesday: 5pm-9pm
Wednesday: 9am-3pm
Saturday: 9am-2pm
